I told her she could make a deal for a weapon with Salamander. Sounds like she has trouble sleeping without a dagger.

I let her borrow mine last night. If she goes to Salamander, here's hoping she can get a fair one.

For what it's worth, Donatello takes some pride in making things for us. All of those daggers I enchanted are his work. I'd already talked to him about making one for her.

Speaking of Donatello, be mindful about starting a scan when he’s at the center of your attention. His gear has some kind of encryption against connections, which is good, but I keep catching it by accident and I think it’s logging scan attempts.

I suppose now's an awkward time to mention that my translation spell works on ciphers as well.

Not that it does me a whole lot of good. Just because I can read it, it doesn't mean I understand it.

To be up front about it, I’m not trying to access his data. But this encryption is about preventing access in the first place. There were people who used to connect to his tech to override and steal control of it.

I'll apologize to him, then.

Hopefully he doesn't take it too personally. He knows how limited the results can be.

If he does, just point him at me. Tell him I didn't go over the scans well enough.

I think that might make it worse. He doesn't appreciate misdirection. He doesn't even like stage magic because it's about trickery and making people think that there's magic being done.

It's probably not really wrong. I'm certain I didn't go over it as well as GAIA would have.

All encryptions can be broken, given enough time and attention. There's just a point where we have to decide whether it's worth it.

And, really, knowing how his technology is put together isn't worth it, is it?

I was going to see what the components of his staff were, but - you're right. Not worth it.

Anyway. At this point I'm kind of just playing with things to see how it all fits together and what I can do with it.

True. Though, depending on how free Cricket is with their boon, that might not be quite as necessary. We'll see if they play stingy or not.

Some people don't accept that. I say something along those lines and get a lecture. It's not like I'm saying that we can't ever expect anything from anyone, though. Just that we shouldn't base our plans off of an expectation of generosity.
