[ she's heading up the stairs leading to the top row, then trying to climb onto one of the seats to reach the projector window

unfortunately, it's too high up ]

I think we need to get in here...

Haven’t seen a trap yet that was good to fall into.

[Ah. She’ll join Beta, and crouch a bit to put her hands over her knee. Want a boost up Ellie sis?]

[ weighing her trust in Aloy vs her worry about falling backwards and hitting every chair on the way down...

she'll take that lift but she's absolutely hanging onto Aloy is a little too hard while she does. ]

I should be able to fit through.

[Making a sound at the way Beta clings, but. Hefting up!]

[ she doesn't have Aloy's athleticism, so when she catches the window sill, she struggles for a moment with feet scrabbling at the wall

after a moment, she manages to lift herself with a huff and squirm her way in through the window, poking her head back out ]

How do you do this all the time?

Aloy, this is ancient ancient. It's running on physical film!

[ and then its nerdclone enrichment time as she gets to business, with occasionally audible sounds of fascination ]

Heh. Didn’t realize anyone noticed that.

[She presses her Focus, so she can at least see a generic figure moving around up there.]

[ Beta's figure is flitting around the machine excitedly, she's having a blast ]

So, this is mostly speculation based on what I'm seeing, but!

[ she moves to grab something and then appears at the window again to toss a roll of film to Aloy quickly ]

Before the invention of holos or a computerized medium, they had rolls of material that captured the images frame by frame. From the way this looks, they would have had to set this all up by hand to run...So they'd take the long strip, feed it into the machine, and...

[ there's a flash of light on the screen as she adjusts the projector before it begins to kick on. ]

It'd run every single image through at high speed!

[She's not completely surprised by the toss, since she could see the figure move back to the window, but she's making a sound nonetheless when she brings her hands up to catch.

She turns the roll over in her hands, peering closely.]

I suppose that makes sense...what about sound? Or were these meant to be entirely visual?

See the little scratch along the film? The machine reads that too, I think. It tells it what sounds to make, the machine makes them!

Like the recording machine Dervahl made. . . With finer materials, though.

[ and finally the projector kicks on full and proper, the screen lighting up as the opening ads suddenly boom through the theater ]

It's louder than I expected.

It's a pretty simple machine. Just a bunch of gears when you get down to it. Wanna see? Maybe we can get you up here somehow.

[ finally her figure is walking back to the window.

pausing, like she's JUST realized-- ]

If you drop down carefully, it should be fine.

[ aloy gets to watch her wiggle out feet first, very slowly ]

[ wiggle wiggle, time to dangle out the window in reverse ]

[ after a little more scrabbling, she's finally dropping to the floor with a small yelp. she lands fine, arms out to try and balance herself for a moment. ]
